KapaRogwe Falls and Nathan's 18th!
Alright all, Tanzania is pretty cool. Today is my birthday, gonna have some bevvies later. We started the day with breakfast; a bread and an egg. However during this time everyone here has put banners and balloons on my door and in the food hall saying "Happy 18th Birthday" which was amazing and has made my birthday so much more enjoyable and easier to deal with, so thanks everyone. After breakfast we headed to Kapa Rungwe Falls, a massive waterfall 2 hours away from the Bible Centre. It was named after a man who fell or jumped (dunno which is better) off and is the only one to have survived. I assume others have survived but I can't imagine being so competitive as to jump off a cliff to try to survive just to get a name changed. Each to their own. The group sang happy birthday to me again as well and so far I've had a fantastic birthday and have made unforgettable memories. Kapa Rungwe was beautiful and I can't think of a more unique place to have spent my 18th birthday. After having Madazis and Samosas for lunch, the majority of the group headed down the mountain (it was steep) to the suspended rope bridge. This was knackering, and my legs were like jelly. We then embarked across the rope bridge to the other side and back again. I wasn't scared at all and if anyone says otherwise they're a liar. Right, good. Then we had to go back up the steep mountain thing. You don't even understand how bad it was. You had to scramble at some bits and it absolutely wrecked my legs. That was pretty catastrophic. My small group that assembled at the front of the line to get up quicker, took 30 minutes exactly. Shorter than going down, but to be fair we were going mental. It took about two hours to get back to the Bible Centre from the top of the mountain but we were the first lot back from those who decided to go the bridge. Most of us came back had a cold shower and started doing some washing. We then lounged around for a bit reading etc. and then Ian came and told me to write all this stuff so you lot don't panic and start to think we've all tried to get Kapa Rungwe's name changed to one of ours.
I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone in Tanzania for making my birthday so enjoyable and memorable. I appreciate all your efforts so much, and it's made my day easier to manage without my parents. Love you all here and those back at home.
See you after.
